Nantucket Basket Works was founded by Alan Reed & Nap Plank in 1982. All of our baskets are woven and assembled entirely by either Alan or Nap and are signed & dated on the bottom of the basket. All the basket components, top plates, bottom plates, rims, staves & handles are made here in the shop from their respective raw materials with exception of the weaving cane. Our scrimshaw is done by native artist Lee Ann Papale and the carvings are made by various carvers, including some by Nap & Alan. |
